A Cleveland, OH, native, Emily Kennard moved down south to study Journalism and Anthropology at UNC-Chapel Hill. Since then, her love of stories has taken her around the word and in the hallways of ESPN, 60 Minutes, and a few other stops along the way.

Most recently, she worked led the editorial team at National Geographic Society, where she mined the Society’s more than 137 years of scientific and exploration work for impactful storytelling opportunities. She's especially interested in exploring the intersection of sport and society, and how the games we play (and watch) tell us about the communities in which we live. In her spare time, she enjoys petting other people's dogs, playing & watching tennis, and cheering on her beloved Cleveland and UNC sports teams.

After stops in Connecticut, Washington, DC, Raleigh, and New York, she currently lives in Savannah, GA with her husband and son, where they enjoy exploring the incredible history, geography, and people of the lowcountry.
